It’s quite common for athletes to eat raw eggs. However, they’re exposing themselves to a serious danger: salmonella.
The yolks of some eggs may be infected by this bacteria. And only by cooking them we can be sure to kill it.That’s why raw eggs or mayonnaise sauce are dangerous. Remember that salmonella usually causes colic and gastrointestinal discomfort. But in the most serious cases it can lead to death.
Plus, eggs are one of the foods which causes more allergies. And when they’re raw they’re even more dangerous. Eggs are a great protein source. But according to latest studies, we absorb more protein from cooked eggs (around 90%) than from raw eggs (only 50%).
